NCLA's ANNUAL "CORNELL CLINIC" will be on Sunday, December 2nd
for all girls in Grades 5-11
Players from any town may participate in the Cornell Clinic - stay tuned for details!
We are working on our Spring 2019 programs and plan to
open registration on November 1st.
The deadline for registering players in Grades 5-8 is January 23, 2019 at 11:59 PM.
After this date and time, a late fee of $225 will be automatically added
to each late registration.
Evaluation dates for New Canaan resident girls in grades 5 through 8 will be:
Saturday, March 2nd, 2019
Sunday, March 3rd, 2019
Wednesday, March 6th, 2019
The exact evaluation times will be announced soon, and all evaluation sessions
will take place at indoor athletic facilities.
Details will be announced well in advance.
GIRLS FALL BALL COACH BIOS:
Coach Woods is looking forward to her 12th season at the helm of New Canaan High School with the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Program. Her overall coaching record is 205-56 including the 2018, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012 & 2010 Connecticut State Championships. At the end of the 2018 season, Lacrosse Magazine ranked New Canaan High School Girls Lacrosse #13 in the country. During her tenure, 35 players have earned All-American honors. She has also coached 79 All-State and 94 All-FCIAC players. She was honored as the “Outstanding Coach of the Year 2018”by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association and CT Coach of the Year in 2018, 2012 & 2008, as well as the 2009 & 2012 FCIAC Coach of the Year. She has been affiliated with women’s lacrosse at every level, both as a player and coach, for the two past decades. As a player at Penn State, she was a four-year letter winner and captain of the team during her senior year, ultimately being named to the Academic All-Big Ten team as a midfielder. Following her collegiate playing days, she was asked to stay on at Penn State for an additional year as the Undergraduate Assistant Coach, helping to lead the Nittany Lions to a 10th place ranking in the country. She has coached at the Penn State Elite Camp for nine years, as well as owning and operating Gold Coast Lacrosse Club Team.
Madison Hughes played for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils where she was named to the NEC all conference three years in a row. Also as a senior Madison was the award winner for the Nicholas E Collenluori Award at the Hofstra Headstrong tournament. Madison was a four-year starter for the Blue Devils as a midfield/defender.
After graduating Madison went on to become a certified personal trainer. She currently is a trainer for Countdown Fitness in New Canaan and Greenwich, CT. Madison first started as a coach for the Nor’ Easter club lacrosse team during her senior season at Central Connecticut University until the following winter (2015-2016). Madison became part of the New Canaan Girls Lacrosse program as a high school varsity and youth coach in the spring of 2017, and she joined the Gold Coast Lacrosse staff in the fall of 2017.
A 2002 graduate of Wilton High School, Lauten began her lacrosse career at Manhattanville College as a sophomore in 2004 and played four years through completing her Masters degree in 2007. Already a member of the women’s basketball team, she quickly learned and enjoyed the sport of lacrosse as well, becoming a starting defender, team ground ball leader, and captain. She was placed on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coach’s Association Academic Honor Roll in 2007.
After graduating, Lauten gained experience coaching lacrosse at New Canaan High School, working with the freshman and then JV teams from 2009-2012, and then with the JV team at Darien High School in 2013 and 2014, where she was also the head varsity girls basketball coach from 2012-2015. She also began coaching for the Connecticut Chargers in the spring of 2009, working with middle school and high school ages through the 2013 season, and she has been coaching with the CT Grizzlies since the program’s first season in 2014. Lauten returned to New Canaan High School to help coach the JV team this past spring 2018. When not coaching, Coach Lauten is the Curriculum Coordinator and a Head Teacher at St. Mark’s Preschool in New Canaan, CT.

NCLA schedules are not finalized until we are able to confirm coaching and field schedules which will not be until March. While NCLA makes an effort to coordinate with other youth sports programs when creating the master schedule, we expect NCLA lacrosse to be a player's priority during the spring sports season for grades 5-8. Neither late registration fees nor the refund processing fee of $25 will be waived for any scheduling reasons for any programs.
